29 CFR 1926 Subpart I

  • Use only tools you are trained, qualified, and authorized to use; use the right tool for the job

  • Inspect before use; damaged, mushroomed, split, or defective tools are tagged out of service

  • Guards stay in place and functional; no guard is removed without supervisor permission and proper procedures; keep all mechanical safeguards in position during operation

  • Powder-actuated tools only by trained/certified operators

  • Compressed air is never used for cleaning clothing, cooling off, or horseplay; cleaning use limited to less than 30 psi with chip guarding and PPE

  • Saws: use blade guards, push sticks, and hearing/eye protection; abrasive wheels ring-tested and properly mounted

  • Company tools and equipment are not used for personal purposes
